Abstract Summary 

Among the many uses of DTS technology, the measurements of low flows rates in boreholes & dams, has given operators greater insight into the safety & operation of their assets.  The  fundamental operating principles of a DTS system are described and both active and passive techniques are discussed. Examples are given of real world applications are given and their applicability to the challenges in oil & gas field are highlighted. 

About the Speaker 

Michael joined Silixa in 2011 & prior to joining the company, he worked a number of years in the in the Oil & Gas Industry as a Senior Engineer and Project Manager. Michael holds a master’s degree in Communications & Radio Engineering from King’s College and a PhD in optical fibre instrumentation from Imperial College, University of London. Michael is an acknowledged expert in the field of distributed fibre optic sensing and has authored many papers on the subject across a wide variety of industry sectors, including oil & gas, alternative energy and industrial infrastructure.
