Tommy Langnes is a Co-Founder and Executive Director of LYTT - a software company founded in 2019 delivering real-time cloud-based subsurface analytics solutions fuelled by fiber optic sensors to the oil & gas industry.The first 8 years of his career he worked in the Drilling and Wells Technology team in Norsk Hydro (Norway), being technical responsible for well tubular technologies and supporting well design and well integrity projects. In 2007 he joined the Production Technology and Operations team in Shell Norway where he was daily responsible for wells and reservoir monitoring activities in two major fields in the Norwegian Sea. 5 years later he joined BP in London (2012), where he formed and led the Distributed Fibre Optic R&D program in Upstream Technology from early feasibility to successful development and delivery of a scalable real-time fiber optic sensing and analytics platform, adding substantial value to several of BP’s assets in the area of production, integrity and sand management. Based on proven field results, a multi-billion $ value proposition was built for BP to sanction fiber-basis-of-design for future wells and to facilitate a technology spin-out of LYTT.Tommy Langnes completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Offshore Technology) from University of Stavanger.
