The Fifth EAGE Marine Acquisition Workshop will open with keynote presentations delivered by distinguished experts at the forefront of their disciplines. Each keynote will set the stage for each of the workshop’s topics, offering critical insights and the latest advancements to spark in-depth discussion and collaboration.


Peter Whiting

EVP Geoscience
Viridien

Keynote: The accelerating role of geoscience technology in exploration and production performance.

Peter is the Executive VP in charge of the global Geoscience business at Viridien. Trained as an Applied Mathematician / Geophysicist (Ph.D. from The University of Sydney) with extensive experience in seismic data processing, his career has included many positions covering R&D, management of technology development, software development and management of business activities. After starting his career in his native Australia, he has had postings in Singapore, the USA, France and now the UK. 

The Geoscience business at Viridien is exciting and varied, with important information being extracted from huge amounts of data (seismic, multi-physics, satellite, geology, drilling, engineering, production) using vast amounts of specialised HPC to apply sophisticated scientific algorithms and AI/ML. The high-quality information extracted allows our clients to act safely and successfully. 

Peter is passionate about the sensible application of science to solve business problems of the world today.




Carsten Haagensen

President of Data Services 
Ocean Infinity

Keynote: Transforming seabed seismic: How Ocean Infinity’s DNA is redefining what’s possible.

Carsten Haagensen is an experienced executive with over 20 years of experience spanning the maritime, oil and gas (O&G), and tech/SaaS industries. Amongst others he worked with Accenture, Maersk and had two companies of his own. 

Carsten holds an MBA from Copenhagen Business School and has completed leadership programs at Harvard Business School, IMD and London Business School. With expertise in international business development, strategy, market developments, customer relationship management, innovation and turnaround strategies. 

Currently working as the President of Data Services at Ocean Infinity, Carsten was drawn to the company’s bold mission to revolutionise one of the world’s most traditional industries through cutting-edge technology, a highly engaged workforce, and an ambitious vision for redefining the way we use and protect our oceans.



Xander Campman

Principal Science Expert
Shell

Keynote: The Marine Seismic Source as an Oscillator: From Nonlinear Bubble Physics to Practical Design Handles.

Xander is a Principal Science Expert in the Geophysics and Geomatics Operations group at Shell Global Solutions International B.V. in The Hague, The Netherlands. He joined Shell in 2007 after earning an MSc in Applied Geophysics and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Delft University of Technology.

Xander spent over a decade in exploratory and geophysical research roles, including five years leading Shell’s seismic acquisition research team. For the past five years, he has focused on Geophysical Operations—supporting seismic surveys worldwide, advancing and deploying new technologies, improving seismic delivery, and advising regional ventures globally.




Kunpeng Liao

Lead DAS Specialist
Viridien

Keynote:  How DAS is transforming subsurface imaging and monitoring – from acquisition to processing.

Kunpeng is the Lead DAS Specialist at Viridien. He holds a BSc in Geology and an MSc in Geophysics from the University of Texas at Austin. 

His career spans roles as petrophysicist, well planning geologist, and later as a processing geophysicist at CGG (now Viridien). Over the past five years, KP has specialized in subsurface imaging and monitoring using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) data, with extensive experience in both DAS VSP and Surface DAS applications across Oil & Gas and CCS projects.
