Dr Nadege Bize-Forest

Interepretation Geology Discipline Manager, Schlumberger (SRPC, Technology and Engineering Center), France

Nadege has 20 years of academic and industry experience in France, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Romania and Brazil, from field operation to geological interpretations and management of multidisciplinary research and engineering projects.

Her domains of expertise are: Borehole Image Interpretation, Carbonates, Reservoir Rock Typing, AI for facies prediction, and project management. In her current position she is working on new sensors and tool measurement validity for wireline and LWD and on the definition of new answer products and processing chains for all borehole geology imagers.

Nadege holds a Ph.D. in Geology specialized in Carbonates Sedimentology and Sequence Stratigraphy from the University of Burgundy, France. She is also teaching Schlumberger answer products for Carbonate evaluation to geologists. She was SPWLA regional director for Latin America in 2018-2020.

Professor Simon Lang

Director of the Centre for Energy Geoscience, University of Western Australia, Australia

Professor Simon Lang is a sedimentologist/stratigrapher with >30 yrs global experience including regional geological mapping, sedimentology & stratigraphy research, and petroleum exploration & development projects mainly in Australasia and SE Asia, but also Russia, Kazakhstan, Africa and the USA amongst many others.

He started work initially at the Geological Survey of Queensland (1979-92), then joined academia as a Lecturer at Queensland University of Technology and later Associate Professor at the Australian School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide (1992-2005). He then moved to industry, where he led the Stratigraphy & Reservoir Analysis teams for Woodside (2005-13) working on all their Australian and global projects. He then joined Chevron Energy Technology Company in Houston, Texas, in 2013, as a Senior Stratigrapher with the Seismic Geomorphology & Clastic Stratigraphy teams working as a global consultant, returning to Perth as Geologic Services Manager & Stratigraphy Advisor for Chevron Australia (2013-18).

He joined University of Western Australia in 2018 as Director of the Centre for Energy Geoscience, leading industry-funded research consortia on seismic stratigraphy and reservoir analogues.

He has a PhD from the University of Queensland (1994), and has published extensively, supervised numerous graduate students, led industry-oriented training courses and research consortia, and run dozens of field courses & core workshops. He was PESA Distinguished Lecturer (2010), and a member of PESA, AAPG and SEPM.
