How is it going to work?
Our technical committee has created 3 realistic, but fictitious CO2 storage problems. These include onshore and offshore scenarios. Relevant subsurface, business, and regulatory details are included. After the technical committee summarizes the storage problems in a brief lightning presentation, the workshop attendees will break into small groups—probably of around 5 persons—and select one of the storage scenarios and an associated work problem. Tasks will include proposing risk registers, MMV plans, and mitigating threats and events. The organizing committee has placed economic, geological, and/or regulatory boundaries on each task to further challenge the attendees to think creatively. Several groups will work on most of the problems, particularly the MMV plans and risk registers. Each group will present its results to the entire workshop, grouped by problem and task. This will enable a comparative discussion of the solutions, particularly their efficiency and effectiveness.
The small size of the working groups will ensure that everyone will be heard. We expect the value of the workshop will not come from finding a ‘right answer’ to the problems, but in exploring the solution space as it is affected by site specific challenges and the ideas of the workshop participants. The technical committee plans to collect the work and potentially summarize it in First Break.
Come and join us for our workshop; this is your opportunity to be heard, to design risk registers and MMV plans, and to solve relevant storage problems with a group of engaged colleagues.
