Medellín is the second most important city in Colombia, and capital of the department of Antioquia, known as the City of Eternal Spring for the pleasant weather that it presents all year round, is surrounded by mountains and it is very clean with lush trees and beautiful flowers. The city is one of the main cultural centers of Colombia.
Medellín holds important and recognized festivities at a local, national and international level such as: the Flower Festival, is the biggest cultural event of the year in Medellin, and one of the most unique festivals in the country. For one week, the city welcomes people from all over the world to celebrate the beauty of its flowers and the diversity of the country.
There are other stunning towns near Medellin. The department of Antioquia is known for its beautiful landscapes, little towns and coffee farms. Just within an hour or two from the city, you will be able to visit towns such as Guatape, Santafe de Antioquia, Jardin and Tamesis (some of them are considered Colombian national heritage towns).
Economically, Medellín is a city that stands out as one of the main financial, industrial, commercial and service centers in Colombia, primarily in the textile, clothing, metal-mechanic, electrical and electronic, telecommunications, automotive, food and health sectors.
