First EAGE/SBGf Workshop on  Seismic Processing

23-24 September 2026 |  Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Welcome to the First EAGE/SBGf Workshop on Seismic Processing

The First EAGE/SBGf Workshop on Seismic Processing is a specialized forum focused on advancing the full spectrum of seismic data processing technologies—from pre-processing and signal conditioning to high-end imaging, inversion, and emerging applications in CCS. This event will gather experts from academia, industry, and technology providers to address current challenges, share innovative solutions, and discuss the latest developments across all stages of the seismic processing workflow.

With increasingly complex geological environments, evolving acquisition technologies, and the growing demands of the energy transition, the workshop aims to highlight best practices and cutting-edge methodologies across seven main topic areas. Participants will explore advances in denoising, demultiple, broadband conditioning, interpolation, simultaneous-source processing, and other foundational techniques that ensure high-quality input for imaging. The programme will also cover the latest progress in velocity model building and Full Waveform Inversion (FWI)—including multi-scale, elastic, multiparameter approaches, hybrid datasets, uncertainty quantification, and FWI-derived attributes for reservoir understanding.

A significant part of the workshop will focus on modern imaging and model-driven inversion, featuring developments in RTM, LS imaging, FWI imaging, and high-resolution approaches for complex geological settings such as salt bodies, carbonates, and faulted zones. Contributions on Ocean-Bottom Node (OBN) processing and hybrid OBN–streamer workflows will address topics such as wavefield separation, reconstruction, joint inversion, and efficient processing strategies for large-scale projects.

The workshop will further explore time-lapse (4D) seismic processing, including repeatability conditioning, LS-4D methods, 4D FWI, hybrid streamer–OBN monitoring, and permanent systems using DAS or OBN. The growing impact of machine learning, automation, and HPC/GPU acceleration in seismic processing will also be discussed, showcasing applications in denoising, interpolation, QC, velocity analysis, workflow optimization, and turnaround-time reduction

Finally, the programme includes a dedicated focus on CCS and emerging energy applications, examining seismic workflows for site characterization, shallow imaging, DAS-based processing, detectability and repeatability challenges, and the use of 4D and FWI for CO₂ plume tracking.

This workshop is designed for geophysicists, seismic processors, researchers, students, and technology innovators working in exploration, reservoir monitoring, and carbon storage projects. Attendees will gain a comprehensive view of current seismic processing trends, learn from regional and global case studies, and connect with peers and leading experts to foster technical exchange and collaboration.

By bringing together diverse perspectives and state-of-the-art methodologies, the First EAGE/SBGf Workshop on Seismic Processing aims to strengthen the seismic processing community and support the advancement of subsurface imaging for energy exploration, CCS, and emerging applications across Latin America and beyond.
