George Buzan 

Bell Geospace 

George studied geophysics as an undergraduate at Princeton University and continued studies toward a Master’s degree at Texas A&M and the University of Houston.  He began his professional career processing data for a legacy seismic contractor.  Moving into data acquisition gave him the chance to spend most of his career working and living throughout Latin America.  His seismic experience did include acquisition of potential fields data and allowed him to change career focus in 2019 by starting work with Bell Geospace, promoting Full Tensor Gravity Gradiometry in the Americas.  Professional memberships include, SEG, EAGE, PDAC, AMGE and AAGGP.

Tine Lærdal 

Equinor

Mrs Tine Lærdal. Norwegian with a Masters in Sedimentology from University of Bergen from 1997 and a Dr. Scient (PhD) in Sedimentology from same University from 2001. Thesis work on Tectonics, Sedimentation and Paleoclimate in the East African Lakes.Worked 3 years as Post Doc at University of Bergen working on Shallow marine deposits of the Halten Terrace offshore Norway.

Started in Norsk Hydro in 2004 in Bergen where I worked at the Research Centre, focusing mainly on Complex Offshore Projects. Continued into StatoilHydro with the merger in 2007 and moved to Stavanger (Norway) where I started as a Sr Sedimentologist. Joined Global Screening in 2009 as a Team leader and worked on several projects around the world, from the Arctic to Offshore East Africa. Then continued into New Ventures in 2011 and worked in Access projects across Africa and Latin America. Was the G&G leader for the Access project of the Argentina License Round in 2018/2019 and continued into the Argentina Assets as Subsurface Manager after Access.

Am an “exploration enthusiast” who am currently very much looking forwards to testing the offshore potential of Argentina.

Ernesto Diaz 

Rystad Energy

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ernesto Diaz is Rystad Energy's Senior Vice President for LatinAmerica. In this position, Mr. Diaz oversees the overall development of the business in the different countries of Latin America, and the relationship with both the private and public sectors in the Energy industry.

Prior to joining Rystad Energy in 2021, Mr. Diaz had more than 20 years of experience in Data Analytics, SaaS and Consulting for the Oil & Gas industry in Latin America, having worked with Accenture early in his career, and with Deloitte, SAP and Wood Mackenzie from 2004 to 2021.

Over his career, Mr. Diaz occupied managerial positions in business development and consulting, leading different projects related to strategy, corporate restructuring, operational efficiency and information systems in the Oil & Gas industry, in different countries.

Mr. Diaz holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration, and Public Accountant from the University of Buenos Aires, and completed several training courses around the globe.

Joan Flinch

Elsevier

Joan F. Flinch is currently a Independent Consultant and Senior Geoscience Consultant for Elsevier based in Madrid, Spain. Joan received his B. S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Barcelona, Spain in 1988 and 1990 respectively. His M.S. thesis focused on the structural mapping of the southern Pyrenees. He enrolled in the Geology and Geophysics Department at Rice University, receiving his Ph.D. in 1994, directed by Professor A. W. Bally. Before becoming an Independent Consultant, he spent 17 years at Repsol where he held the positions of West Africa New Ventures and Asset Manager, Latin America New Ventures Manager, Geology Manager, Geoscience Discipline Manager and Exploration Quality Advisor. He worked from 1997 to 2004 for Total, in Paris and Pau, France. From 1994 to 1997 he was a consultant geologist for Lagoven (PDVSA Affiliate) in Caracas. Joan has given numerous talks and published papers on the Pyrenees and the Betic Cordillera in Spain, the Moroccan Rif, the Northern Colombia Accretionary Prism, the Eastern Venezuelan fold-and-thrust belt, the Gulf of Paria, the Bolivia Sub-Andean region and the Sierra Leone-Liberia continental margin. He has been teaching several courses on Seismic interpretation and deep-water plays and leading geological field trips.

Robert Van de Poll

FUGRO

Robert, based in Canada, is Fugro’s Global Director Law of the Sea activities, reporting directly to the Corporate Headquarters (Netherlands), where Fugro one of the world's largest commercial Surveying & Engineering Corporations, offering Geo-data services for land, sea and air.

Robert has received his B.Sc. (Earth Sciences 1991), and M.Sc. Eng. (Geodesy & Geomatics 2002). He has 10+ years practical experience working as a field geologist and 15+ years at CARIS, and now 16+ years at Fugro. He designed, created and developed the CARIS LOTS (Law of the Sea software) (the present-day World Standard) for the United Nations. He is now a World Geoscientific Law of the sea expert.

Robert’s Global Director position has him heading up all worldwide operations in 162 Countries ( i.e. all mapping applications for Law of the Sea). He developed and continues to manage the unique Fugro Global Law of the Sea database (a comprehensive compilation of 100+ Terabytes of relevant digital Law of the Sea data), used for all Global Fugro Law of the Sea projects. To date, Robert has worked on 2000+ Law of the Sea Projects (advising Governments and/or National Oil Corporations (NOC's) and/or International Oil Corporations (IOC's) and/or any Offshore targeting offshore Installations for (i) Renewable Energy Projects (ii) Telecom / Pipelines / Cables, (iii) New Infrastructure Builds (Ports / Harbours / Power Plants etc.) in 146 of the 162 Coastal States (Countries) applicable to Law of the Sea applications. This means Robert is now a Global Geoscientific LOS expert.

Robert has been appointed Positions as Honorary Fellow/Lecturer at three Universities around the world. (1) Dundee University, Dundee Scotland, UK at the Center for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), (2) Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS), University of Wollongong, Australia, (3) IMO (International Maritime Organization) Law Institute (IMLI), at the University of Malta, (Msida, Malta).

Adrian Lara

Wood Mackenzie

Adrian Lara is Wood Mackenzie’s Latin America Principal Analyst, based in Mexico City. He has a deep understanding of the oil and gas sector in each Latin American country. Adrian develops analysis and insight on relevant issues impacting the upstream sector and supports in the maintenance of key assets in the region.

Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie in 2022, Adrian served as a research manager for Global Data’s upstream division where he directed research and help develop some analytical tools. He also held various roles in the crude and refined product desks at the international trading arm of Pemex. Adrian was also a research fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies in the UK.

Adrian holds a Masters Degree in Energy Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and IFPEnergies Nouvelles. He has a B.A in Economics and Political Science from Instituto Tecnológico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM).


Daniel Rodriguez

ANH

Geologist from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and MSc. in Exploration Geophysics from the University of Leeds, with experience in exploration and development of hydrocarbons.

He has worked with the Technical Vice-Presidency of the ANH for three years in the competitive processes of area allocation, identifying prospective areas through the use of 2D and 3D seismic and well information. During the last two years he has focused his efforts in the study and acquisition of information in the Colombian Caribbean, describing possible opportunities associated with gas chimneys and the development of reservoirs in the subsea deposits of the Magdalena River in the Colombia Basin. He is currently working with the technical vice-presidency in the planning of studies and projects that may reveal the hydrocarbon potential of the Colombian Pacific
