Welcome from the Local Advisory Committee

It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Near Surface Geoscience Conference and Exhibition 2019, which will be held between 8 and 12 September, 2019 in The Hague, The Netherlands, under the auspices of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers. The following four conferences will take place in parallel: 25th European Meeting of Environment and Engineering Geophysics, 1st International Conference on Geophysics for Geothermal and Renewable Energy Storage, 1st International Conference on Geophysics for Infrastructure Planning, Monitoring and BIM and 10th International Workshop on Advanced Ground Penetrating Radar. Registering for this meeting will give you the opportunity to benefit from all 4 conferences. Because of the challenging geological and geotechnical conditions in the Netherlands, the need of utilization of the subsurface space and diverse energy resources, and the proximity to a number of key academic and industrial research centres, the city of The Hague is especially befitting to host these conferences.)

We anticipate a vibrant meeting with participation of a large number of professionals from academia and industry. The meetings and the networking opportunities will benefit geologists, geophysicists, geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, construction engineers, hydrologists, and energy scientists, among others. Participants will enjoy a unique platform to exchange knowledge on the recent developments in near-surface geosciences, on breakthroughs in geophysical exploration, assessment of geothermal energy and underground storage of renewable energy, and on geophysics applied to underground infrastructure projects. During these meetings, field trips and instrument and field method demonstrations will take place. Research workshops on geophysics for geohazards, benchmark testing for GPR, and forensic geophysics will be organized.

In addition to the technical sessions and the exhibition, the conference will have an enjoyable social programme. The seaside boulevard and the downtown of The Hague are a stone’s throw from the conference venue. We also invite you to spend some time in Amsterdam, the lively capital of the Netherlands. We hope that attending the Near Surface Geoscience Conference and Exhibition 2019 will be an enriching professional experience and a lot of fun for you.

We are looking forward to meeting you in September 2019 in The Hague.
