Pitch your research, idea and product.
Geologists and geophysicists love their stories!
However, in an era of fast changing technology, it is difficult to allocate enough time and to follow what is happening around us and in our field of expertise. We therefore need to embrace new ways of presenting and promoting our ideas and research. Engineering disciplines and in particular civil-architecture engineers (tremendously biomedical sciences) have made a great step towards the so-called pitching talks: “the art of concise presentations”. Popularity of these talks has led to the establishment of organizations promoting these types of presentations such as “Pecha KuchaTM”: www.pechakucha.com
EAGE is initiating a new way of presenting ideas and results at events "Rapid Fire Talks", as part of EAGE EU Affairs activities. We invite all academics, researchers and entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas and new technologies during a networking event at the EAGE Horizon 2020 booth. Through this pilot attempt, the EAGE EU Affairs Department together with the team from the Horizon 2020-funded Smart Exploration project will organize up to 10 selected rapid-fire presentations to be given using a pre-made template of 9 slides, each timed 20 seconds.
The presenters will be diverse covering a wide range of expertise and fields. We look for new research, innovative and development ideas, products or solutions that can have an added value to our discipline covering the main topics of the conference (NSG2020). The objective is to bridge from research and ideas, to realization and commercialization, allowing audience to network and discuss more effectively bringing their ideas to a much more technology readiness level (TRL).
If you are interested, provide an up to 200-word abstract stating the problem, what you have done (or want to do) and what you are looking for (selling point).
The three best-judged pitching presentations will be awarded an Innovation award sponsored by Smart Exploration and a 3-minute video of the talk distributed through EAGE social media channels.
The Call for Abstracts is now closed.
Invited presentations will be informed by Monday, 5 June 2020.
Presentations dates to be announced (followed by a networking cocktail).
