Event Overview

Join us in Algiers for the Second EAGE/ALNAFT Workshop on Techniques of Recovery of Mature Fields and Tight Reservoirs, where experts, researchers, and industry leaders will discuss challenges, new techniques and technologies involved in these topics.

Since the first discoveries made during the 50s, part of medium and small fields have gradually reached maturity—today encompassing over 70 brownfields that, despite decades of water- and gas-flooding to sustain production, now require tertiary-recovery methods to unlock their remaining reserves. The advantageous fiscal regime and world‑class surface facilities with available processing and injection capacity present an attractive opportunity to host large‑scale tertiary‑recovery pilots—essential to achieve ultimate recovery. This workshop will spotlight the untapped potential of the Cambro-Ordovician tight sands and Cenomanian–Turonian and Liassic carbonate plays, examining how proven recovery techniques can be tailored to overcome their inherent heterogeneity, fracture networks and complex wettability challenges.

This workshop will bring together leading operators, service providers, reservoir engineers, EOR specialists, production technologists, geoscientists, service-company representatives, academics and regulators to share proven tertiary-recovery approaches, collaboratively explore methods to uplift production in tight reservoirs and evaluate opportunities in carbonate fields, and forge the partnerships and financing routes necessary for large-scale deployment—all in pursuit of achieving ultimate recovery under the guiding theme “Move Forward by Recovering Differently.”
