Recent discoveries in the Guyanese offshore, neighboring Suriname and adjacent areas have drawn significant attention from the E&P Industry, from Liza to Uaru, Hammerhead to Jethro and Carapa in Guyana and now Maka in Suriname, with further deep-water drilling underway. This activity has opened up oil-prone petroleum systems in at least three different plays within the deep-water province along the margin from Eastern Venezuela to Suriname. The discoveries are in the earliest stages of appraisal and development, and most of the learning from these successes, those from analogue basins and conjugate margins, remain within the commercial realm while this is ongoing.
