3-4 November 2022 |Bogotá, Colombia

MEET THE KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Dr. Diana Comte

Full Professor AMTC-FCFM Universidad de Chile

Is a seismologist and Ph.D. from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, is a Full Professor in the Department of Geophysics and R&D Director of the Advanced Mining Technology Center, both belonging to the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile. Diana has led numerous scientific projects focused mainly on seismotectonic, local earthquake tomography, and seismic hazards in different regions of Chile and Peru. She is the author of 65 WoS articles and has more than 2500 citations. Diana has recently oriented her research to reduce the scale of the passive seismic tomography at greenfield and brownfield scales, to define the 3D structure of the intrusive bodies associated with mineral deposits (CODELCO; Anglo American; Antofagasta Minerals; BHP Billiton). She has investigated the seismic sequence of earthquakes in Chile and Peru during the last 30 years: 1985 Mw8.0 Central Chile; 1995 Mw8.0 Antofagasta; 2001 Mw8.4 South of Peru; 2001 Mw6.3 Aroma fault system; 2004 Mw6.5 El Fierro fault system; 2010 Mw8.8 Maule, 2014 Mw8.2 Pisagua; and 2015 Mw8.4 Illapel. She also supervises postdoctoral, Ph.D., MSc, and undergraduate students at the University of Chile, through several competitive and industrial projects.
