Fons Ten Kroode

Chief Geophysicist

Magseis Fairfield

Fons ten Kroode joined Magseis Fairfield as Chief Geophysicist as of February 1st 2022. Before that he worked for 30 years in Geophysical Research at Shell. Starting as a borehole geophysicist in 1991, he continued to work in the General Research department as a mathematical geophysicist on Full Waveform Inversion in the mid-nineties. Following this, he held positions as team lead signal processing R&D, manager of Shell’s global seismic imaging R&D program and manager of Shell’s Acquisition and Processing R&D group. He holds a PhD in Mathematics and MSc in Theoretical Physics from the University of Amsterdam, where he was Assistant Professor of Mathematics before joining Shell.

Roberto Dias

Petrobras

Has a bachelor’s degree in Physics and a master’s degree in Computation & Information Theory, from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco / Brazil. He has over 12 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, working as a Geophysicist in the Reservoir Geophysics Corporate Group at Petrobras. He is currently a Geophysical Advisor for ultra-deep-water reservoirs, mainly focused on Pre-salt fields.Roberto has conducted a variety of seismic modeling studies and contributed to guaranteeing that Asset Teams had appropriate seismic data, supporting both the acquisition and processing teams on these processes. He has also worked on 4D Seismic studies to support seismic data interpretation. As an Advisor at Petrobras, he has been involved in many research projects and technological challenges related to offshore reservoir characterization.

Sandeep Kumar Chandola

PETRONAS Exploration

Is currently the Chief Geophysicist & Head (Geophysics Solutions) in PETRONAS Exploration. He received a master’s degree in physics from H. N. Bahuguna Garhwal University in 1984, followed by a specialized diploma in petroleum geophysics from the I.I.T., Roorkee in 1985. He has more than 37 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in various technical and leadership roles within PETRONAS and ONGC. His key contributions include championing new technologies at ONGC & PETRONAS to address various exploration and development-related challenges. He is currently leading a 140+ strong team of geophysicists in PETRONAS to provide value-adding solutions to both the core E&P and the clean energy businesses. As Head (Technical Capability), Sandeep gave a new impetus to the capability development initiative within PETRONAS Exploration and successfully led his team to develop and implement the world-class Exploration Capability Development Programme, which has so far benefitted more than 4000 participants.

Nikhil Shah

CEO

S-Cube

Nikhil read Mathematics at the University of Cambridge and completed his doctorate at Imperial College London which gave rise to patented algorithmic developments in the theory of seismic imaging by waveform inversion.

Whilst working for Chevron in Earth Science R&D located initially in San Ramon, California and subsequently in Houston, Texas he was responsible for leading technology pilots of new seismic imaging algorithms applied to fields located in basins offshore Brazil and Nigeria.

He was appointed CEO of S-Cube in 2019 to accelerate its growth through product development and commercialisation. Under his leadership, the company has struck key partnerships with cloud providers, service companies and early adopters such as Chevron, Woodside and Petrobras.

Marco Arreguín

Schlumberger

Marco has developed a career in the exploration of hydrocarbons for more than 27 years, covering the Mexican basins. Marco has contributed with extensive works to exploratory projects of different scales and participated in onshore, shallow water, and deep water oil and gas discoveries, in a variety of geological settings. He grew his career as a seismic interpreter, prospect evaluation leader, and in business development. He proudly joined Schlumberger 3 years ago and currently holds the position of Geosolutions manager for the seismic processing center covering Mexico and Central America. In his position, he is using technology, knowledge, and innovative ways of working to accelerate the exploration cycle.
