Doha, Qatar

Doha has a population of 2.4 million and is the capital and most highly populated city of the State of Qatar. Doha enjoyed a bustling pearling industry until the early 20th century but has since experienced a transformation into one of the main economic centre of the Middle East thanks to its rich oil and natural gas resources.

The city is also a popular business and travel destination with over 1.7 million annual tourist arrivals. Doha is a city with a rich cultural and artistic fabric. The city hosts world-class exhibits and museums including the Museum of Islamic Art and the recently opened National Museum of Qatar.

The traditional Qatari architectural style can also be experienced in the popular Souq Waqif, where locals and visitors can experience the authentic commerce, architecture and culture of Qatar.

The Al Zubarah fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also lies approximately 100 km outside Doha. An educational hub for the country, Doha is also home to Education City, a 14 km2 complex featuring facilities from high schools to research institutions including branch campuses of many international universities.

The growing community is a vibrant ecosystem merging education, industry and finance to grow the knowledge economy of Qatar.
