Surface wave exploration is an effective tool to estimate the S-wave velocity profile and attracts many people’s interest in the geotechnical industry because S-wave velocity is one of the most critical parameters for geotechnical site characterization, stability assessment of foundation, evaluation of liquefaction risk, evaluation of earthquake ground motion, etc.
This workshop covers recent development of active and passive surface wave explorations, including data acquisition (e.g., DAS), data processing (e.g., Machine Learning), and case studies (onshore and offshore). In addition, standardization of the surface wave explorations is discussed. There are some guidelines regarding surface wave explorations. We will invite some authors of a guideline developed by the InterPACIFIC project, which delivered a good practice of surface wave analysis. ISO 24057-2022 (Array measurement of microtremors to estimate shear wave velocity profile) is developed as an international standard for the passive surface wave method, and we will also discuss the ISO standard for the active surface wave method.
Researchers and practitioners using surface wave exploration are recommended to participate in this workshop.
