Welcome message from the Technical Committee Chair

On behalf of the Technical Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to join us for the fifth EAGE Eastern Mediterranean Workshop, taking place on 1-3 December 2025 in the historic and vibrant city of Cairo, Egypt.

This year’s workshop theme, Advancing Sustainable Energy Solutions in the Eastern Mediterranean, reflects the global commitment to achieving net-zero emissions and securing a sustainable future for generations to come.

As the energy transition accelerates, oil - and particularly natural gas - will continue to play a vital role, supporting a low-carbon pathway and enhancing energy security. Our workshop highlights the importance of hydrocarbons within this transformative landscape while exploring cutting edge technologies emerging across diverse energy sectors. We are thrilled to bring together a community of researchers and professionals, fostering the exchange of ideas and innovative research that will shape future collaborations.

The Eastern Mediterranean, a region marked by rich hydrocarbon potential and dynamic geopolitical landscapes, provides an ideal setting for these discussions. Here, regional subsurface expertise can be instrumental in advancing technologies such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage, hydrogen production and storage, offshore wind and geothermal solutions.

EAGE and the Technical Committee will also share updates on recent progress in regional geology, petroleum systems and prospectivity, alongside the latest developments in new technologies and market opportunities. Building on the success of the 2023 workshop in Athens, our fifth gathering aspires to further foster cross-fertilisation, inviting experts from all energy sectors to contribute to discussions on energy transition and social responsibility.

Beyond engaging sessions and stimulating discussions, the fifth EAGE Eastern Mediterranean workshop promises outstanding networking opportunities and memorable activities.

We look forward to welcoming you in Cairo, Egypt and would be honoured by your presence!

Sincerely,

Aristofanis Stefatos
