Third EAGE Eastern Mediterranean Workshop

The workshop will cover a range of themes and aim to prompt discussion. Initial themes and ideas for topics of interest are outlined below but abstracts are invited to be submitted under any topic relevant to hydrocarbon exploration in the area. While having a specific focus on the Eastern Mediterranean submissions from outside the region that are analogues or impact the region are also welcomed.

1. Regional Geology of the Eastern Mediterranean

1.3 The impact of neotectonics on petroleum prospectivity;

1.4 Carbonate depositional systems of the Tethyan margins;

2.3 Distribution and controls on biogenic and thermogenic sources;

2.4 Subsurface monitoring of fluid migration;

3. Application of New Technologies

3.1 Learnings from seismic acquisition;

3.2 Seismic imaging of the pre-salt section;

3.3 Non-seismic geophysical methods and their application (gravity, magnetics, CSEM etc.);

3.4 Advances in drilling and development;

4. Aligning with the Energy Transition

4.1 Role of gas as a bridge fuel in the energy transition;

4.2 Sub-surface energy storage (e.g. gas, carbon dioxide and hydrogen storage opportunities);

4.3 Geothermal resources;

4.4 Geo-environmental policies for decarbonisation in the Eastern Mediterranean;
