Paul Mann
Paul Mann received a B.A. in geology from Oberlin College and a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Albany. His main interest area is the tectonics of sedimentary basins. He is currently the Robert E. Sheriff endowed professor of geology in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Houston, where he also directs the CBTH Project.

Jennifer Elliott is the Guyana Geoscience Manager for ExxonMobil Guyana Limited. With over 20 years of experience at ExxonMobil, Ms. Elliott has served in numerous technical and leadership positions. Jennifer’s experience spans New Opportunity Exploration projects as well as ExxonMobil Operated Projects in Exploration-Development-Production where she influenced project development on both onshore and offshore in over 20 basins around the world. Areas of deep focus were the Gulf of Mexico, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Brazil, Colombia, and Guyana. In addition to her subsurface reservoir characterization and project development experience, she served ExxonMobil as a Commercial Advisor focused on Equity Management for assets across the Americas participating in the drafting, review, and execution of JOAs, PSCs, and National Bid Round Offerings.
In June 2018, Jennifer became the Exploration Supervisor of Deepwater and Unconventional Colombia Operations at ExxonMobil. Since that assignment she has served as the Development and Production Operations Supervisor in the US Permian Delaware Basin and the Guyana Liza Field. In September 2022 she was named the Geoscience Manager for ExxonMobil Guyana Limited and is based in Georgetown, Guyana.
Ms. Elliott is a recognized corporate expert in project and change management. Her specific interests are focused on driving improved performance through business transformation.

Mike began his career at SRC, a consultancy formed from ECL where he worked extensively on seismic data offshore West Africa and the North Sea. Mike subsequently joined Geoex MCG and is now their Geoscience Manager where he provides global G&G technical expertise across their data portfolio and all upcoming projects. He also leads the technical understandings within Geoex MCG on CCUS and natural hydrogen.

Currently as T&T Exploration Business Opportunity Manager, he is accountable for exploration growth in Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados. He is passionate about continuous improvement and leading high performing teams with a culture of innovation, accountability and collaboration. In his personal time, he enjoys being a dad and not losing too many golf balls.

Her extensive experience encompasses research, outreach, and involvement in diverse sectors such as oil and gas, dredging, carbon capture, and offshore wind. Throughout her career, she has adeptly managed a wide array of environmental projects, including mitigation and monitoring development and compliance, permitting focused on marine mammals, environmental and social impact assessments, development of environmental management plans, sound source verification and modelling, as well as conducting decommissioning comparative assessments.
James Pindell

Jim Pindell integrates plate tectonic data with field aspects of stratigraphy and structure to construct regional evolutionary syntheses and to constrain petroleum systems. Jim has directed industry-sponsored research programs through Tectonic Analysis Ltd. since 1985, and has held academic research positions at Lamont Earth Observatory, Dartmouth College, University of Houston, Cardiff University (Wales), and is now an Adjunct Professor at Rice University. Jim has a PhD in geology from Durham, England (1985), an MS from SUNY Albany (1982), and a BA from Colgate University (1979). Jim’s research programs and teaching have focussed on the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, northern South America, the Andes, and the Atlantic margins. Jim has published over 100 papers on these regions. Jim is the recipient of the Robert Mitchum Best Paper Award from EAGE in 2014, the Doris M. Curtis Medal in 2020 from the GCSSEPM for career research contributions, and the Outstanding Educator award from GCAGS in 2023.
Nwenna Crooks-Smith

Nwenna Crooks-Smith is a Business Project Manager and also Digital Lead at Shell. After attaining a BSc. Petroleum Geoscience (Hons) in 2008 from the University of the West Indies, she furthered her studies in Business Administration and spent 15 exciting years in Field Development. Her background as a Production Geologist has entailed leading Production and Operations Geology workstreams for multiple drilling projects (18+ wells) and the delivery of integrated reservoir models for fields in Trinidad and Tobago and the Santos Basin, Brazil. Her previous roles have included ‘Subsurface Lead’ for the Colibri Project with First Gas in 2022, and ‘Subsurface Lead’ for ‘Area Development’ activities across the Trinidad East and North Coast Marine Areas (ECMA & NCMA). She is passionate about responsible and sustainable energy operations and has also supported Energy Transition Strategy framing and CCS screening activities in T&T. In June 2023, she joined the STT Business Transformation team as ‘Digital Lead’ and has enjoyed delivering an exciting funnel of Digital products and Technology driven initiatives to various teams across the business. In August 2024, she added the role of ‘Business Project Manager’ to her responsibilities and enjoys the cross-disciplinary partnerships that Development planning, Project delivery, and Business Transformation entails. She sees herself as an integrator and enabler, and believes that the best part of her job is doing great things with great people.
