Visa Information

Kuwait has different visa regulations depending on your nationality and the purpose of your visit. Here's a general overview of the visa information to enter Kuwait:

Who Needs a Visa? Generally, most nationalities require a visa to enter Kuwait. However, citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries (Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates) do not need a visa.

Kuwait e-Visa: Kuwait has an e-Visa system for eligible nationalities, allowing you to apply online without visiting an embassy. The list of eligible countries can vary, so it's best to check the official Kuwait Ministry of Interior e-Visa website.

Visa on Arrival: Citizens of over 50 countries may be eligible for a visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport for tourism purposes, with a stay of up to 90 days. Requirements include a valid passport (at least six months validity), a return ticket, and proof of accommodation.

Types of Visas:

  • Tourist Visa: For short stays for tourism.
  • Visit Visa: For visiting family or friends residing in Kuwait. Requires a sponsor who is a Kuwaiti resident.
  • Business Visa: For business-related trips like meetings or conferences. Requires a Kuwaiti sponsor company.
  • Work Visa: For employment in Kuwait. Requires a work permit arranged by your employer.
  • Family Visa (Dependent Visa): For spouses and dependent children of Kuwait residents.
  • Transit Visa: For travellers passing through Kuwait for a short period (usually less than 7 days).

General Requirements for Most Visas:

  • A valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining.
  • Completed visa application form.
  • Passport-sized photographs with a white background.
  • Copy of your passport's bio page.
  • Supporting documents depending on the visa type (e.g., invitation letter, sponsor's documents, flight booking, hotel reservation).
  • Visa fee (varies depending on the visa type and nationality).

Important Points to Note:

  • Visa regulations can change, so it's crucial to check the latest information from the official website of the Kuwait Ministry of Interior or the Kuwaiti embassy in your country before planning your trip.
  • Some nationalities may have specific requirements or restrictions.
  • Overstaying your visa can result in fines.

Where to Apply:

  • Online (for eligible nationalities): Through the official Kuwait Ministry of Interior e-Visa portal.
  • Kuwaiti Embassy or Consulate in your country: If you are not eligible for the e-Visa or require a different type of visa.
  • Upon Arrival (for eligible nationalities): At the visa counter at Kuwait International Airport.

It is highly recommended to visit the official Kuwait Ministry of Interior website (e.gov.kw or evisa.moi.gov.kw) or contact the Embassy of Kuwait in your country for the most up-to-date and specific visa information based on your nationality and travel purpose.
