Workshop Course

Introduction to Geosteering

Tuesday 2 March 2021  (9:00 - 16:00)

Convened by Dr. Vlad Karen Payrazyan (Rogii) and Kirill Ronzhin (Rogii)

*This course is included in the conference registration fee.

Course Description

This course will give a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of geosteering: pre-job, real-time well placement and post analysis. Participants will learn how to integrate various datasets from different disciplines such as drilling, geophysics, petrophysics and geology in order to execute a successful well placement job. Attendees will get to know multiple data types, including but not limited to MWD and LWD logs, image logs, mudlogs, seismic and structural surfaces and how to analyze it.

Different geosteering methods will be discussed highlighting pros and cons of every technique. Means of communication between different parties involved in well construction process will be reviewed. The role of latest advancements in IT technologies such as cloud-based solutions, automation and data analytics will be discussed. Best practices of well placement in different fields worldwide will be demonstrated and reviewed.

Participants' Profile

This course is suitable for anyone interested in horizontal well placement and geosteering. Previous experience in directional drilling, geology and well placement is beneficial but not mandatory.

Registration Details

Attendance to this course is included in the workshop registration fee.
