Upon consultation with various shareholders we've made the decision to move the First EAGE Conference on Seismic Inversion fully online.
As COVID-19 infections continue to rise across Europe the ability to safely have this event in Portugal within the next month is now greatly diminished and there are too many uncertainties present.
The conference programme schedule is now reorganised to be spread out amongst four half days from 26-29 October.
We are positive that the ability for the mainly international delegates to attend virtually will serve to increase the participation of colleagues who would find it otherwise difficult or uncomfortable to travel at this time.
Please note: This announcement does not have any bearing on any other EAGE related events. The status of each event is determined on an individual basis in line with local recommendations. If you are attending, or planning to attend an event with EAGE, please consult the specific event website for the most up-to-date information and guidelines. Find your event at: www.events.eage.org.

EAGE continues to carefully monitor the possible impact of any further spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on the First EAGE Conference on Seismic Inversion scheduled for 26-28 October 2020. Our first priority is the health and welfare of the membership. We are co-operating closely with Porto Convention & Visitors Bureau and our venue partners HF Hotels to ensure that members are not put at risk.
The Portugese Government has begun a gradual reopening process and we look forward to news on the approval for public meetings in the coming weeks. So far we have had no cause to cancel the event, but assure that we will issue immediate notice if advised that the conference is no longer appropriate in the current environment.
We are working on enhanced measures to ensure a safe and successful event. Possibilities are also being explored for streaming segments of the event via our new virtual events platform.
In the meantime we would suggest that members follow current assessments of the impact of the Coronavirus as indicated by the World Health Organization (WHO) on its website. If travelling, immigration advisories issued by individual countries should also be checked.
