That's a wrap for NSG 2021! With over 200 people participating in person and another 200 online, our first ever hybrid NSG was a success!
We want to thank our committees, presenters, chairpersons, exhibitors, sponsors and of course all our delegates for their participation and for making this event possible.
Note: The session recordings will be available until 30 September via the event's online platform.
NSG2021 will be held in a hybrid format, meaning that it will combine an in-person event with online components.
Participants will be able to choose to participate either in-person or virtually, while speakers will be able to present their works in-person at the venue or submit a pre-recorded presentation, in combination with online participation during the live sessions.

Welcome by Alireza Malehmir, NSG Division Chair
On behalf of the EAGE Near Surface Geoscience Division, I cordially invite you to attend the Near Surface Geoscience Conference & Exhibition 2021 to be held in Bordeaux, France, from 29 August to 2 September 2021.
We are pleased to announce that this year’s event will be hosted for the first time in Bordeaux, where we’ll introduce the 1st Conference on Hydrogeophysics alongside the 27th European Meeting of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics, and the 2nd Conference on Geophysics for Infrastructure Planning, Monitoring and BIM. Without a doubt the main conference and the two parallel meetings cover topics that are of societal relevance for the whole world and our near-surface geoscience community.
We at the division realise the need to organise focused conferences and respond to the need of our members by providing new and attractive topics that can provide an environment to move the science and technology forward while also addressing the need of our society. Bordeaux is a hub for non-destructive testing (NDT) in France and French companies are on the forefront of developing complex infrastructures such as high-speed trains, underground facilities as well as bridges, airports and shipping ports. This is therefore a great opportunity to welcome newcomers to the event, particularly to the Infrastructure Planning, Monitoring and BIM conference. We welcome design and civil engineers, city planners and geotechnical communities to take an active role in the conference after a successful presence in the NSG2019 in the Hague.
Water and natural resources in a rapidly changing climate and their implications to build a resilience society are not hidden from NGOs and governmental bodies. The introduction of the Hydrogeophysics parallel conference aims to connect the science with the public sectors and governmental entities, and I personally welcome these communities attending and exchanging their knowledge and needs with us in Bordeaux.
For its 27th edition, the European Meeting of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics will continue to build on 27 years of research and development in the field of engineering geophysics as we join our two sister conferences in Bordeaux between 29 August - 2 September 2021.
Over the last three decades, hydrogeophysics has emerged as an important sub-discipline in hydrogeology and ecohydrology. It involves investigations of the structure and processes of the subsurface environment, at different spatiotemporal scales, by identifying key properties and state variables related to water flow and solute transport.
The second Conference on Geophysics for Infrastructure Planning, Monitoring and BIM aims to bridge the gap between geoscientists, geotechnical and geomechanical engineers, and asset owners/planners in this specific field. The conference will provide a platform for academia, governmental institutions and industry.
