Tatiana Orellana
Executive Coordinator of the Energy Coordination Unit (UCE-SGSICA)
Tatiana Orellana is a Salvadoran energy and capacity building specialist with a degree in Electrical Engineering. She has more than eleven years of experience in the energy sector in Central America.
For more than nine years, she worked for the German cooperation Deutsche Gesellshaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as a technical advisor in the implementation of projects focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency in Central America. Some of the actions she was responsible are: studies for the integration of variable renewable energies (such as solar and wind energy), development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), as well as she was formed in the development of different publications such as Digital Readiness in the Central American Energy Sector; working hand in hand with local, regional and international (such as IRENA, IDB, GWNET) key stakeholders, and with other GIZ counterpart projects in Latin America.
Recently, Tatiana has started a new role as the Executive Coordinator of the Energy Coordination Unit (UCE) of the General Secretariat of the Central American Integration System, whose main function is to coordinate SICA's participation in the different regional schemes that operate in the energy sector.
Sulamith Kastl
BGR
Since 2007 Sulamith Kastl works as a scientific employee for the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) from Germany. In the framework of the Technical Cooperation (Germany) she has worked for projects in Paraguay and Indonesia. Living in Nicaragua since 2017, she is regional director to implement the BGR support for geothermal in the SICA region, namely projects Yacimientos I (2017-2020) and Yacimientos II- Identification of Geothermal Energy Resources for Local Development in Central America (2020-2023). She also is official member of the UN EGRM Geothermal Sub Group which mainly focusses on the UNFC for geothermal resources.
Heber Didier Diez León
President of the Mexican Geothermal Association (CFE)
Heber Diez is a Mexican electrical mechanical engineer with a master's degree in mechanical engineering and knowledge of geothermal reservoir engineering. He has several publications and designs of his authorship, he has edited in a magazine and participated in national and international projects. He is the current president of the Asociación Geotérmica Mexicana (AGM) and the person in charge, Campo Geotérmico de Cerro Prieto, dependent on the Gerencia de Proyectos Geotermoeléctricos de la Comisión Federal de Electricidad. He has extensive experience and experience in the development of projects of various kinds, from conception to operation.
Bernhardt Johst
Principal Regional Advisor of the GEO II project.
Bernhardt Johst is a German national; has worked for the Cooperación de Desarrollo Alemana (GIZ) for more than 12years. He began his work as an integrated expert in the Cámarade Industrias de Costa Rica and collaborated closely with the GIZ 4E regional energy program. Since 2020, it has been part of the “GEO II” project and is co-leading the implementation of the project in the 8 SICA countries. Its objective is to promote the direct use of geothermal energy in the region and especially in the local industry. Bernhardt is certified energy manager and has worked as a consultant technician for the renewable energy industry in Europe, Middle East and Latin America.
He is one of the founding members of the Solar Association of Costa Rica and supports strongly the application of ISO 50001 measures in the industry in Latin America. He studied Business Administration with a focus on renewable energy, efficiency energy and innovative business models in the energy sector.
