Second EAGE Conference on Seismic Inversion

7 - 9 February 2022 | Online Event

Meet our Panelists

Per Avseth

Per is a geophysical advisor and CTO of Dig Science in Oslo, Norway, and a part-time researcher at the Dept. of Electronic Systems at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim.  Per received his M.Sc. in Applied Petroleum Geosciences from NTNU in 1993, and his Ph.D. in Geophysics from Stanford University, California, in 2000. Per has more than 20 years experience in the oil industry, and he was the SEG Honorary Lecturer for Europe in 2009. He is a co-author of the book Quantitative Seismic Interpretation (Cambridge University Press, 2005), and has published extensively in the fields of rock physics and AVO analysis. His current research focuses on basin-scale rock physics and integration of basin modeling, sedimentology and rock physics.

Tom Blanchard

Tom has worked in TotalEnergies since completing a PhD at the University of Leeds in time-lapse seismic in 2011, he's had stints in research, acquisition and processing and he's now the Team Lead for their 4D Specialist services in HQ - where they perform feasibility, inversion and interpretation studies for the affiliates.

Ehsan Naeini

Ehsan has a BSc in Physics, and an MSC and PhD in Geophysics. He has more than 16 years extensive software and technology development experience with geoscience software companies. Ehsan has also published extensively in the area of signal processing, reservoir geophysics and machine learning. Ehsan's current focus is on augmenting machine learning algorithms with human intelligence and capturing their underlying uncertainties.

Matt Walker

Matt is a Geophysicist at bp working in Subsurface Uncertainty Description. He holds an MSc and a PhD in Geophysics (“Bayesian inversion of seismic data”) from the University of Edinburgh. Matt joined bp in 2014, and has previously held a variety of technical roles in seismic processing, exploration and reservoir characterisation. In his current, and previous, roles he has been involved in the development of stochastic seismic inversion technology.
