About the organizers of SAGEEP 2021 & 1st Munitions Response Meeting

The Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS) is an applied scientific organization founded in1992 as a not-for-profit corporation and has approximately 700 members. The society's primary activity is its annual meeting. In addition, it develops and distributes a peer-reviewed scientific journal, as well as a newsletter, quarterly. It also publishes, markets, and distributes books and educational materials on the application and use of geophysical technologies.  The society’s mission is to promote the science of geophysics especially as it is applied to environmental and engineering problems; to foster common scientific interests of geophysicists and their colleagues in other related sciences and engineering; to maintain a high professional standing among its members; and to promote fellowship and cooperation among persons interested in the science.

The annual meeting of the organization, known as the Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems  (SAGEEP), is held in early spring. SAGEEP is internationally recognized as the leading conference on the practical application of shallow geophysics. It occurs over a 5-day period, with approximately 220 oral and poster presentations, several educational workshops, numerous vendor presentations, and a commercial exhibition. A set of proceedings, comprised of technical papers presented at the conference is distributed.

The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) is a global professional, not-for-profit association for geoscientists and engineers with approximately 19,000 members worldwide. It provides a global network of commercial and academic professionals to all members. The association is truly multi-disciplinary and international in form and pursuits.

All members of EAGE are professionally involved in (or studying) geophysics, petroleum exploration, geology, reservoir engineering, mining and mineral exploration, civil engineering, tunneling and environmental matters. EAGE operates two divisions: the Oil & Gas Geoscience Division and the Near Surface Geoscience Division.

EAGE organizes the following activities for its members:

  • Events (conferences, exhibitions, workshops)
  • Publications (journals, books)
  • Educational Programs (short courses, lectures)
  • Student Programs

The National Association of Ordnance Contractors (NAOC) was established in 1995 as an industry trade association representing over 80 companies who perform munitions response services, both in the United States and internationally.  NAOC’s membership collectively provides the full spectrum of munitions response services, including munitions detection, management and disposition; site characterization and remediation; geophysical surveying and data analysis; environmental sampling and analysis; regulatory support; research and development; and related environmental/engineering services.

NAOC’s strategic objectives are to:

  • Be the unified voice for the munitions response contracting industry
  • Partner with the Department of Defense to promote open communication and efficient, quality project execution
  • Protect and include Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) funding
  • Be a leader in the development and application of munitions detection technology
  • Provide insight and review guidance and regulations related to explosives safety and quality procedures for munitions response
  • Support MMRP-related training and educational webinars

To support these objectives, NAOC’s leadership team includes a Board of Directors and five standing committees in the areas of Government Affairs, Member Services, Operations and Standards, Small Business, and Technology. For more information on NAOC, please visit www.NAOC.org.
