Dr. Chen Guo

Graduated from the Special Class for Talented Young Students in Xi’an Jiaotong University in China, with the bachelor’s degree received in School of Electronic and Information Engineering in 2004. CSC sponsored exchange Ph.D. student in University of Houston, United States from 2007 to 2010, and received the Ph.D. degree from School of Electronic and Information Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China in 2010. Visiting professor and postdoctoral researcher in School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences, Stanford University from 2016 to 2018. 


Prof. Jian-guo Zhao

Jian-guo Zhao is a professor at the Department of Geophysics, China University of Petroleum (Beijing). He got bachelor and master degrees from Department of Geophysics in Jilin University in 1998 and 2002, respectively, and he got his PhD from Tohoku University, Japan in 2006. He started his career at the Department of Geophysics in China University of Petroleum, Beijing. His research interests include experimental, theoretical, and computational rock physics, seismic reservoir inversion and prediction, GPR and borehole radar applications in petroleum and civil engineering. He published tens of papers in international journals and is a principal investigator for more than forty projects from both industry and goverment including seven extremely competitive NSFC projects (National Natural Science Foundation of China projects).


Prof. Evert Slob

Evert Slob is professor of electromagnetic geophysical methods and head of the section applied geophysics and petrophysics at Delft University of Technology. He has a wide range of research interests in acoustic and electromagnetic waves and fields, and published widely on his results in these fields. He was Editor of Geophysics and member of the SEG board of directors. He was guest editor for more than ten special issues, organized more than ten workshops and conferences, and delivered more than 20 invited and keynote talks. He has supervised more than 25 PhD candidates and 50 master thesis students.


Gianfranco Morelli

Gianfranco Morelli graduated from the University of Pisa, Italy in Electrical Engineering in 1994, then has specialized in geophysics at the Mining and Geological Engineering department of the University of Arizona.Since 1997 is a Registered Professional Engineer in Italy and has been developing systems, field procedures and software for geophysical prospection, with focus on 3D Resistivity Tomography, Electromagnetic mapping, Ground Penetrating Radar and Seismic surveying.Starting in 199 and up to present he is the CEO and Technical Manager of Geostudi Astier srl, specialized in data processing and consulting for geophysical surveying applied to environmental and forensic studies, civil, geotechnical and mining engineering, archaeology, hydrogeology.


Dr. Liu Hai

Dr. Hai Liu received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in civil engineering from Tongji University, China, and Dr. Eng. degree in geophysics from Tohoku University, Japan. Since 2021, he has been a professor of Guangzhou University, China. His research interests include GPR, ultrasonic phase array, and other non-destructive testing/detection methods, as well as their various applications in civil engineering and deep space exploration. He has published more than one hundred peer reviewed journal papers. Since 2020, Dr. Liu has served as an associate editor of the IEEE GRSL. Since 2022, Dr. Liu serves as an associate dean of School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, Guangzhou University, China. In 2012, he received the best paper award from the 14th international conference on ground penetrating radar (GPR 2012).


Prof. Ling Chen

Ling Chen is a professor of Geophysics in the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGGCAS). Her main research interests are the structure and properties of the crust and mantle, and dynamic evolution of continents, the Earth and terrestrial planets. She has been the leading scientist for several national-level research projects on the deep structure and evolution of the Chinese continent since 2008, the principle investigator of the international collaborative research projects on the Iranian plateau and the Sumatra subduction zone since 2012, and the leader of the Mars Interior Research group at IGGCAS since 2021.


Prof. Jing Li

Jing Li, professor of geophysics at Jilin University, China, received Ph.D. (2014) degrees from Jilin university in applied geophysics. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher from 2015-2018 with Gerard Schuster’s group at KAUST. His current research interests include surface wave inversion for near-surface and GPR data processing and inversion for shallow subsurface, through-wall detection, and planetary Science. His contributions have had a particular emphasis on seismic data skeletonized inversion for surface waves and guided P-waves. He has authored 60 journal articles and 10 patents, i10-index is 49. He is an associate editor of Advances in Astronomy, and winner of the Innovation Award at the 2019 International Conference on Engineering Geophysics.


Dr. Passakorn Pananont

Dr. Passakorn Pananont, a geophysicist, is an Associate Professor at the Department of Earth Sciences, at Kasetsart University. His workemphasizes using geophysical methods to study various aspects, such asenvironment, groundwater, geotechnical engineering, and archaeology. Healso studies the crustal properties of the earth and geodynamics,including seismology, earthquakes, and geohazard. His current interestis to apply geophysics to add value to society for the public'ssustainable well-being, economy, and safety.


Dr. Wang Gonghui

Dr. Wang is a full professor at Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University. After getting his PhD at Kyoto University in 2000, he conducted research on landslides for about 30 years, from the approaches of geophysics, geotechnic, engineering geology, hydrology, geomorphology, and obtained fruitful research results, especially on the initiation and movement mechanisms of rapid long runout landslides under abnormal weather conditions and/or earthquakes. He has published more than 100 papers in international journals. He works as editors of several international journals, and now is the chair of JTC1 (joint technical committee on Natural slopes and Landslides) of FedIGS.


Dr. Tsoggerel Tsamba 

Dr. Tsoggerel Tsamba holds PhD in Architecture and Building Science (Earthquake Engineering) from Tohoku University, Japan. She earned her B.Sc and M.Sc in Geophysics from The National University of Mongolia, and Master in Civil Engineering from École Centrale de Nantes, France. After works of 10 years at the Mongolian Academy of Science, and a year at Tohoku University, she works at Mongolian University of Science and Technology since 2015. She leads projects on earthquake-resistance and monitoring of structures, R&D on earthquake engineering in Mongolia, with funding ADB, JICA, and CDRI. She participated in multi-sensor monitoring of offshore-structure at Nantes University, France. Dr. Tsoggerel established the Earthquake Engineering Laboratory and the Strong Motion Network with 15 surface-mounted and a 100 meters-depth borehole stations in the capital city, Ulaanbaatar Mongolia.


Dr. Lanbo Liu 

Dr. Lanbo Liu is a Professor at the School of Future Technology, Shandong University, and Professor Emeritus of Geophysics and Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT specialized in Engineering and Environmental Geophysics. He received BS and MS in Geophysics from Peking University, MS in Civil & Environmental Engineering, and PhD in Geophysics from Stanford University. He was the Carnegie Fellow at Carnegie Institution of Washington before joining the faculty of the University of Connecticut. He was a Fulbright Scholar to Norway, and the Blaustein Visiting Professor at Stanford University. He published extensively on pure and applied geophysics in peer-referred journals and book chapters. He served as member of the editing board or associate editor for several professional journals in geophysics.


Dr. Jie Zhang

Dr. Jie Zhang is a Chair Professor of Geophysics at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He earned his Ph.D. from MIT in 1997. In 1998, he founded GeoTomo. Dr. Zhang’s accolades include the Reginald Fessenden Award from SEG (2012), among many others. He has taught Geophysics at MIT, Stanford, and USTC. In 2020, he was elected to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE). Dr. Zhang is an active member of EAGE and SEG and has served as Vice President of SEG (2016-2017), a member of MIT’s Visiting Committee (2011-2019), and a member of the SEG Foundation Board (2024-present).


Prof. Yudi Pan

Yudi Pan received his PhD (2016) in geophysics from the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), China, and conducted postdoc research at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, from 2016 to 2021. He has been a professor of Geophysics at Wuhan University, China, since 2022. His research interests mainly include seismic full-waveform inversion, surface-wave tomography, and urban geophysics. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed journal papers focused on near-surface geophysics.


Dr. Binbin Mi

Dr. Binbin Mi received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in geophysics from the China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, China, in 2013 and 2018, respectively. He joined the School of Earth Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2019, as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, where he is currently a Senior Scientist. His research interests include imaging and monitoring of the shallow subsurface using active and passive seismic data, with applications to solving environmental and engineering problems.
