Dr Aaron Lockwood studied geophysics at Durham and then Leeds Universities and started work as a near surface consultant before moving to Veritas in Crawley to work as a seismic data processor. His career has taken him to work in several countries and a few more offshore. He is currently the Reveal Software Sales Manager (EAME) in Shearwater’s Tunbridge Wells Office. Aaron has been involved with the PESGB for over 20 years and joined the PESGB Geophysics SIG in 2013.


Stephen Pickering is a geoscientist, lecturer, and was previously a Geophysical Advisor for Schlumberger.  His expertise in exploration, with a specialization in geophysics, has been developed over a 47 year career that began at Western Geophysical with his role as a Seismic data processing analyst. He was Exploration Manager UK & Europe for Hamilton Oil and then following take over BHP Petroleum UK Limited. 

In 2000 he joined Schlumberger where he held roles as 4D Seismic Business Development Manager, Geophysics Domain Career Leader, and NExT Technical Director.  In 2007, he was President of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain and more recently EAGE Board member responsible for Education.  Currently he is Director of Education for the PESGB.


Malcolm Pattinson graduated in geology in 1965 and has over 50 years’ experience in oil and gas exploration, mostly on the UKCS and in Africa. His career started with SSL in the late 60s and progressed through Amoco, Ranger Oil and Hamilton Oil, the latter two where he was Exploration Director and responsible for many oil and gas discoveries on the UKCS in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. He also consulted for Tullow Oil and was a NED with several junior oil companies after retirement. In 1996 he was awarded the GSL Petroleum group medal and is an Honorary Life Member of the PESGB.
