EAGE gathers world’s geoscientists and engineers for its first ever online conference and exhibition
The EAGE Annual Conference Online on 8-11 December is due to bring together the global geoscience and engineering community like never before to confront the extraordinary challenges facing oil and gas technology, business and academia in the Covid-19 era.
EAGE is transforming its traditional annual event to enable members and visitors worldwide to access it online. Awaiting them will be the specially adapted Technical Programme, hot topic forums, community sessions, a student programme and more.
The innovative online format provides an exceptional opportunity to participate in the parallel technical sessions on offer. The 450 or so presentations will be pre-recorded and made available for view to registered delegates a minimum of a week prior to the start of the event. That means 150 hours of high quality content to dive into.
During the actual event days of 8-11 December, technical sessions will consist of a video stream of the short three-minute summaries of each presentation followed by an interactive Q&A discussion. Delegates can send in their questions to the presenters and so experience the interaction typical of attending an in-person conference.
‘Where do we go from here?’ will be the big question posed to a panel of leaders in the energy community at the special Crosstalk debate during the Opening Session in which members will be encouraged to submit questions. Further interactive forums will be featured each day of the event on the hot topics of Digitalization, Energy Transition and the Future of Geoscience. The Opening Session will also include the Awards Ceremony honouring distinguished contributions to geoscience by EAGE members.
Supporting the event will be a unique exhibition where companies can showcase their latest technological developments, products, and services via an interactive set-up. Oil and service companies, equipment suppliers, research institutes and governmental agencies are just a few of the many who will be represented. Interactivity will be of paramount importance. Event participants can join the exhibitors’ live presentations, read about their offerings, interact with them via audio and video, or arrange individual virtual meetings.
Inside the ‘Community Hub’, EAGE will be offering an engaging set of activities on career development open to all delegates. For those seeking to connect and exchange experiences, we will run a special mentoring programme that you are welcome to join at the start of the event. Interactive training sessions on personal branding for LinkedIn and matching your career with your personality will guide you to explore new online resources for your professional life. Continuous professional development will also be a key feature: join us for a preview of the latest EAGE's education courses and our brand new online learning platform.
For students there will be recruitment advice and networking with university and company representatives. Of particular interest will be the student e-Summit, focusing on academic concerns, kickstarting a career and how students can contribute to the energy transition.
