Lucia van Geuns

Strategic Advisor | The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) 

Lucia van Geuns is Strategic Advisor Energy at The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS). She held research positions at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and the Clingendael International Energy Programme (CIEP) after a career with Royal Dutch Shell (1980- 2002). Ms van Geuns has a background in geoscience, petroleum engineering, economics & planning. Her research focuses on international energy market developments, energy transition issues and climate change policies. In her present role, she is a frequent speaker on (international) energy markets for various public and private stakeholders. Ms. van Geuns holds a Master degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Leiden. She is president of the Royal Geological and Mining Society of the Netherlands (KNGMG).

Remco de Boer

Researcher | De Boer Communication

Remco de Boer MSc. is a researcher, commentator and author specialized in the energy transition. Every month he writes a background article for the newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad (The Financial Daily), he delivers a weekly column (BNR News Radio) and is the host of the podcast Studio Energie, a weekly interview programme. His latest book – ‘Tussen hoogmoed en hysterie’ [Between arrogance and hysteria] – is a revealing reconstruction of the battle against shale gas extraction in the Netherlands.

Jan Willem van Hoogstraten

CEO | Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN)

After having worked at consecutively Shell International, Wintershal and TAQA, in various managerial and CEO-roles, Jan Willem van Hoogstraten (55) was appointed by the Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate as CEO of EBN in 2016. The Netherlands has set a target for a fully sustainable energy supply towards 2050. EBN, as the state representative in the gas value chain, is fully committed to contributing to this ambition. EBN does this by developing CO2-neutral alternatives for gas, such as geothermal energy, CO2 storage, system integration and other sustainable energy carriers. 

He holds several supervisory positions, such as: 

  • Member of the Supervisory Board of GasTerra B.V.;

  • Member of the Advisory Council of the Clingendael International Energy Programme;

  • Member of the Advisory Council of the Energy Academy Europe;

  • Chairman of the supervisory board of Nexstep;

  • Chairman of KVGN. He was closely involved in the negotiation of the North Sea Agreement.

Jan Willem van Hoogstraten holds an MSc in Mining & Petroleum Engineering from Delft University of Technology.

Gro Haatvedt

Vice President Exploration and Development | Neptune Energy

Gro joined Neptune in October 2018 as Vice President for Exploration and Development. She has more than 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. 

Previous, Gro was a Senior Vice President for Exploration in Aker BP and held a variety of senior international roles in Equinor as well as being a Board member for various boards. Gro graduated from the University of Oslo with a degree in geophysics.
