Sustainability is an important factor on EAGE's agenda, and it is something that has already been implemented into different aspects of what the association offers.
Having a positive impact on our community, society and environment has a high priority. That is why, for the upcoming EAGE Annual, we have partnered with a supplier who understands the significance of sustainability.
The chosen venue for the EAGE Annual 2021 is RAI Amsterdam.
RAI Amsterdam aims to organise and facilitate events in a sustainable way, without any negative impact on the environment.
Several years ago, the Basement Chefs (RAI's chef team) made a concrete decision to work with local producers from the Amsterdam Metropolitan region wherever possible.
The producers that the RAI works with guarantee daily fresh, animal-friendly, sustainable and tasty products that are grown and made on a small scale. Moreover, the short distance from the production location to the RAI guarantees that the food is super fresh while also reducing CO2 emissions and traffic on the roads.
RAI Amsterdam believes that sustainable concepts should go hand in hand with sustainable behaviour, which is why they procure their products economically and provide a weekly three-course meal to some fifty guests at the Salvation Army facility in Amsterdam North. The lunch is composed creatively from the remaining usable food from the venue's central kitchen. In addition, any leftover food like fruit is donated to the Amsterdam Food Bank, and they also work with the Humanitas foundation to ensure almost no food is wasted.
In recent years, the RAI has received the Gold Certificate for its efforts to prevent food waste and the way they recycle and process their waste stream.
The youth has the future, which is why the RAI's kitchen is certified to train and carry out examinations of your chefs and serving staff. We also participate in the 'House of Hospitality' learning project and, together with the ROC college and Amsterdam city council, offer basic hospitality training to refugees with a residence permit.
