Positive Intelligence (PQ) is a measure of mental fitness - your capacity to respond to life's challenges with a positive rather than a negative mindset. If you’re physically fit, you can climb steep hills without physical stress. If you’re mentally fit, you can handle life’s great challenges without stress or other negative emotions. You’ll be happier and perform better. 

During this 30 minute presentation, followed by Q & A, we will cover:

1. What is Mental Fitness?
2. Why it is key to achieving your true potential?
3. What you can do to strengthen your Mental Fitness?

Walk-away with strategies and at least two tools that you can use immediately in your day-to-day life to help strengthen your mental fitness.

Esther Bloem

Esther is a geophysicist as well as a life coach, who uses her coaching skills to empower her peers in the field of geosciences. She holds a M.Sc. in Applied Geophysics (cum laude) from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands (2002) and a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands (2008). Since 2008, she works as a research scientist at theDivision of Environment and Natural Resources at the Norwegian Institute of Bio economy Research(NIBIO). Besides this, she is a qualified life coach and currently coaches on mental fitness. She has observed that mental fitness is key for performance and happiness. She is also an active member of the EAGE. She is the Vice-Chair for the Near Surface Geoscience Division (NSGD) (2019-current), previous Technical Programme Officer of the NSGD (2017-2019) and near surface representative in the Technical Programme Committee (TPC) since 2017. She believes that the EAGE community is a valuable platform to address and contribute to support the area of mental fitness.


Mags Welten

Mags is a certified professional coach, inspired to empower ambitious professionals achieve their goals. She is a lifelong student of personal transformation. After achieving her Masters in HumanResource Management, she enjoyed over two decades as a Human Resources Business Partner, supporting the development of many leadership teams, leaders, and professionals across varying sectors both nationally in the UK and internationally. Originally from Scotland, Mags relocated toThe Netherlands in 2009. In her mid 40’s, she re-aligned with her purpose to empower others to learn and grow and pursued various educations which resulted in her becoming a certified professional coach. She joined the Technical University of Delft where she coaches young career professionals in science achieve their career goals. She also collaborates with a number of organisations as Associate Coach and supports the mental well-being of leaders and their teams.Mags coaching style is caring, compassionate, gentle and sensitive. She has a lightness of touch even when addressing deep or difficult issues.
