Dr Marit Brommer is the Executive Director of the IGA since 2017 – Dr Brommer comes with 15 years of experience in the extractive industry where she has worked as subsurface portfolio manager. At the IGA she is focusing on creating strong partnerships with international operating organisations and industries. She is engaged in strategic initiatives, to consistently add value to the geothermal sector by creating opportunities for geothermal development underpinning the vision of achieving a net-zero future.
The IGA stands for the International Geothermal Association, a global platform representing the geothermal sector serving 5500 members through 35 affiliated country members. The IGA mission is to facilitate and promote the uptake of geothermal resources. The IGA flagship, the World Geothermal Congress, takes place every three years, where it convenes the global geothermal sector and sets the future agenda.
Head Worldwide Business Development Oil & Gas | Amazon Web Services (AWS)
His responsibilities have spanned technical, business and managerial roles covering the upstream value chain from M&A, Exploration, Field Development, R&D, Wells, Major Projects, and Asset/Production Operations. Currently Arno leads the global Oil & Gas practice for Amazon Web Services helping customer achieve their Digital Transformation objectives and transform the industry.
Director Gas Technology | TNO
René Peters is responsible for innovation in gas at TNO, a Research and Technology Organisation of the Netherlands. This includes research on production of gas, gas transport and storage, biogas, LNG and Hydrogen. He is leading the North Sea Energy program om system integration in offshore energy. He received this PhD thesis at the Eindhoven University of Technology in '93. He started his career at Shell Research ('93-'98), after which he served in several technical, commercial and managerial positions in TNO since '99. His current position is director gas technology, where he is also managing the Dutch National Innovation Program on Geo Energy. Peters is chairman of the European Forum on Reciprocating compressors and he is leading the EERA Joint Program on Gas in Transition since '13. He is an advisor to the Dutch Government as a member of the ‘’council of experts’’ for the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and, he is a board member of the IRO branch organization for the supply industry for offshore oil and gas and renewable industry since '16.
In his current role in TNO, Rene is working on Orchestrating Innovation, i.e. setting up public-private partnerships in innovation in order to accelerate the energy transition. In these consortia, private companies and public organisations are working together with knowledge institutes and universities on long term mission oriented innovation programs. The programs are funded by Topsector Energy and industry, and have a collaborative character.
One example of such a program is the North Sea Energy program in which 23 organisations are collaborating on system integration of offshore wind and offshore oil and gas in the North Sea to grasp opportunities for reuse of existing infrastructure for CO2 storage and Hydrogen production.
Senior Vice President Exploration | Equinor
Lisa joined the industry in the mid 1990s after graduating with an MSc in Petroleum Geosciences and Geology degree at Imperial College. She began her career in Schlumberger working in seismic acquisition and processing then moved to ARCO (and its US subsidiary Vastar Resources) working as an Exploration Geophysicist on the Central North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico shelf and deepwater.
In 2000, she joined BP as a Development Geoscientist in the early appraisal and development of the Angola Congo Basin. In 2004, she and her family moved to Cairo with BP where she spent 5 years exploring the West Nile Delta.
In 2009, she moved to Statoil, now Equinor, based in both Norway and London. She has worked both international new ventures and licences in several Advisor and Leadership roles, including Exploration Manager of Nicaragua/Colombia and VP Regional Exploration for the Southern Hemisphere. She was previously Head of Sustainability and Safety for Equinor’s exploration portfolio until 2018.
She is currently Senior Vice President of Exploration Excellence, in addition to the role of Head of Strategy for Exploration.
Energy Professional | Purple Hydrogen
Afkenel Schipstra is an energy transition proponent, formerly working for Shell and Gasunie. She worked extensively on oil and gas development projects in Italy, Aberdeen, the Netherlands and Sub-Sahara Africa. She is now one of the voices of the energy transition in the Netherlands. She has worked on the Dutch Climate Agreement and various hydrogen and CCS projects in the Netherlands.

Sophie Zurquiyah is CEO of CGG, a fully integrated Geoscience company providing leading geological, geophysical and reservoir capabilities to the oil and gas industry.
She has over 28 years of experience in the oilfield services industry successfully leading large global organizations delivering high-end products and services, ranging from subsurface technical services, equipment engineering and manufacturing, to integrated solutions, to clients worldwide in the oil & gas industry.
She joined the board of Safran in 2017, an international high-technology group and tier-1 supplier of systems and equipment in the Aerospace and Defense markets, and is member of the Audit Committee.
She holds dual citizenship in France and the United States. She is married with two daughters.
