Workshop Description
Exploration is targeting increasingly challenging geological settings and in many of these areas seismic imaging is difficult. The goal of this workshop is to bring together technical experts from industry, service provision and research institutions to discuss how the integration of multiphysics (seismic and non-seismic data) can guide the geological interpretation and can enable us to reduce the uncertainty in subsurface definition in a cost-effective way. Other applications, such as geothermal and mining, can also benefit from this integration.
Topics
The key focus of the workshop will be on integrated interpretation, workflows and challenges. We will cover the principles for integrated interpretation of electromagnetic, gravity and magnetic data, rock properties (resistivity, density and magnetic susceptibility), geologic modelling and the assessment of uncertainties. Constraints are required at different scales, depending on the application focus, from surface geology, tectonic regimes, seismic and the integration of associated petrophysical parameters. Finally, we will discuss the business impact of the interpretation results and suitable ways of communicating uncertainties between different disciplines.
Workshop format
One-day workshop including invited presentations and contributions from an open call for abstracts. Organized panel discussions for the keynotes and moderated Q&A will be set up to promote an interactive format.
Who should attend
The workshop will span topics that will be of interest to experienced practitioners, both from industry and academia, as well as people without a background in non-seismic geophysics but with an interest in how the technology can be applied. Workshop participants will get a broad overview of how non-seismic geophysics is currently used in the industry. We invite participants to contribute their experiences (success stories and challenges) in the form of case studies for discussion, including business objectives, feasibility assessment, workflows, interpretation results and remaining uncertainties.
