About the Programme

The EAGE Mentoring Programme is a joint initiative of two EAGE Special Interest Communities: Young Professionals (YP) and Women in Geoscience & Engineering (WGE), offered to all EAGE members (students, young professionals, mid-career, senior).

The Programme consists of a 1-year exchange process on career development for pairs of EAGE members, matched according to their goals and preferences. Matched participants – mentors and mentees – are responsible for agreeing between themselves on the frequency, and the system of communication of their exchanges. After the initial connection, pairs will conduct their mentoring process independently of EAGE. The mentoring process is by nature flexible and dependent on the persons involved.

Matching process

Different matching options are possible e.g.:

  • Are you a young professional seeking career guidance? Several EAGE volunteers are senior geoscientists who can transfer valuable experience.
  • Are you in your mid-career and considering your next step? Discussing with someone who has been in your similar situation might be a great way to find your way forward!
  • Are you interested in learning about a different path? You may opt to connect with a professional from another field.
  • Or, if you are planning to move to another country, you can ask to connect with someone who can give you some local advice.

The mentorship journey with EAGE has been a rewarding experience for both mentor and mentee. As a mentor, I’m glad that my advice has contributed towards the growth of young professionals, but most importantly, it provided me an avenue to gain perspectives through the lens of young generations, across the globe.
