Joseba has been Repsol’s Executive Director Exploration & BD since May 2016. He is responsible for global exploration strategy and activities and serves as a member of Repsol’s Upstream Executive Committee. He joined Repsol in Spain in 1990. Since then he has served in technical and managerial positions of increasing responsibility within the exploration organization, including assignments in Algeria, Indonesia, Spain, Venezuela, USA and Argentina. Joseba was Repsol’s Exploration and BD Director for Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil (2004 to 2008), Exploration and BD Director in YPF (2008 to 2010) based in Buenos Aires, Regional Exploration Director Latin America & Caribbean (2010-2015) based in Houston. Before assuming his current responsibilities, he was Exploration Global Portfolio Director based in Madrid. Joseba holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Bilbao (Spain), a MSc degree in Tectonics and Geophysics from the University of Barcelona and MBA from IESE and an ASM programme from IMB.
After graduating with honors at Milan University in Geology he joined Eni in 1991. He has been spending all his career with Eni covering assignments both international and domestic. After more a decade abroad he returned in Eni HQ in San Donato Milanese being appointed Manager of the Seismic Imaging department, then serving in R&D as Manager for the whole Exploration and Reservoir R&D. The next step, in 2009, has been becoming R&D Manager for the Technology Planning for the whole Eni group spanning from G&G to the most downstream activities such as petrochemical, with accountability on the Technology plan of Saipem (EPC) too. In 2011 he returned in Exploration becoming Vice President Unconventional with world wide responsibility on the whole business. Since 2016 he has been appointed to the current role of Vice President G&G Operations and Services with world wide responsibility of the activities covering Seismic, Geophysics, Geomatics, Well Planning and Subsurface Geology. Since 2004 he has been extremely active in International Professional Organizations such as EAGE, SEG, IOGP and very recently in IAGC. He has been covering different Chairmanships in different committees inclusive of the Research Committee of EAGE and in that role serving in the EAGE Board. In 2009 he became VP elected of EAGE, in 2010 Vice President, and in 2011 he has been elected EAGE PRESIDENT 2011. Under his tenure EAGE significantly expanded his presence outside the European boundaries. He owns two international Patents on Seismic Acquisition. He enjoys his spare time with his family in open air sports (Mountain Bike, Nordic Walking) and he his an eager Mineral Collector.
Irene gets her BSc. in Physics and MSc. in Geophysics and Meteorology in the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) in 2012 and 2013, respectively. She joins Repsol in 2014, through the Master in Exploration & Production of Hydrocarbons within the specialization of Reservoir Engineering and Modelling (Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh). After 5 years designing, supervising, QC’ing and assessing Repsol onshore and offshore seismic campaigns, she joined Geological Carbon Storage team in 2020. Since April 2021 she is part of Repsol Geothermal Projects department, developing geophysical and HSE tasks.

Jorge Navarro Comet has more than 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He is currently geology manager at CEPSA, where he is responsible for coordination, management and supervision of the petroleum geology studies and technical quality assurance in regions where CEPSA is currently active: South America, North Africa, Middle East, South East Asia and Spain. He is President of the EAGE-affiliated Association of Spanish Petroleum Geologists and Geophysicists (AGGEP) and an active member of different professional associations of petroleum geoscientists such as AAPG, EAGE, PESGB and AGGEP.
