Navigating Career and Life in a New Era

The Women in Geoscience & Engineering is EAGE's longest running Special Interest Community. Next to various activities organized throughout the year, this group leads a special session at each EAGE Annual Conference and will host one again in Madrid 2022.

The theme for this year’s Women in Geoscience and Engineering session is “Navigating career and life in a new era”. Navigation, in a broad sense, is the skill involving determination of position and direction relative to known locations or patterns. This session reflects the main theme of the EAGE Annual - “Leading geosciences in a new era”. In this session, we will discuss what it takes to find your place in the rapidly changing world and set your own meaningful path in a career, and life at large. 

The session will start with a keynote presentation and continue with an interactive discussion featuring women geoscientists and engineers with different careers and backgrounds. They will share their perspectives and strategies on how they are approaching or have approached the challenges of the new era. Among other things, we will discuss the role of volunteering in unpredictable and turbulent times and the sense of agency it can foster.
